    First it would help to know which iPad you have. Some will not support iOS 7. But the easiest way to update to iOS 7 would be to do it through iTunes.

    I agree with firedept10, simply connect your phone to iTunes on your computer, hit the update and see what's the latest version supported.

    Please bare in mind it's not possible to update to any firmware below the last supported one.

    I can understand wanting an older version. My example is eBay because I like the older eBay application that is on version 5.1.1. Also ooTunes. Because on the newer version and of ooTunes because it one can not edit recordings in the most newer version on ooTunes.

    You can't. You have to update to the latest version which in your case is either 5.1.1 or 9.3.2. Either way you won't be able to update to 7.

    Unless OP happens to have an iPhone 4. The latest version of iOS supported on that particular device is 7.1.2.
