Why is my iPad frozen?

My I pad email is frozen

When email opened all I get is a blank page

Welcome to iMore. May I suggest a hard reset of your iPad. Hold the Power & Home Buttons at the same time till you see the apple. This will hopefully solve the problem.

Are you able to kill the mail app by double clicking the home button and swiping up on the mail app?
