The iPad could not detect by the Mac

This problem happens to my friend.
Mac used to be able to detect the iPad when he working with Xcode and iTunes. But after he update the OS to macOS Mojave iPad no longer connect with the Mac. System information has contained it in the USB list but nothing can be done. iTunes also does not recognize it.
Does anyone out there know how to fix this?

Does the iPad need an update also? Sometimes older OSs will not work with newer ones.

I have a Mac Mini and Macbook Pro, both running Mojave, and both detected my 9.7" IPP on 12.4 and now on 13 beta 4 with no issues.
