Impossible to put iPad 3rd gen into DFU mode. One of the easiest things to do but pad not complying

Pad was bought of eBay already jail broke. worked for few weeks then acted like battery was dead. Now when you plug in to charge, battery comes up but pad stays off and doesn't show that it's charging up

If that doesn't work, the battery is probably dead (not so uncommon on a 4 years old used device).
