My new iPad 2 is asking for a sim card---it is only wifi --not a phone. Do I need one?

do i need one & if so where to get it, apple does not seem sell it

Cellular data capable iPads do exist...and they need SIM cards to use cellular... You should be able to dismiss the message and just use wifi if you want to... Otherwise, your provider of phone service can assist you in getting the device running on their network and under your account with them.
