ipad will not launch applications

my ipad all of a sudden will not launch th apps. it acts as ifit will open for a second or two. then nothing happens. any suggestions??

Restart your iPad. That should always be your first course of action. Just hold the power button down until you're prompted to slide to power off. Then when it's off, hold the power button down again until it comes on again. Everything will be right as rain.
