Does it really take this long to charge?

My wife just bought an iPad 2 and it seems to take forever to charge when plugged into an a/c outlet. I've seen where people are having a problem charging with USB, but this isn't the case here. I timed it the other day, in 50 minutes it charged 5% (from 87% up to 92%). Is this typical?

Is it on when it's charging? I noticed when I left mine on ( I have iPad 1) it took forever. If I turned it off it went much quicker

No, it was off. I turned it off with the button, and closed the magnetic cover. I even peeked to make sure it was off.

Are you using the charging cable that came with it or a generic? That matters. Even if you use an apple one for different device I find it's not as powerful

It may have been a charging cable from an iPhone, I'll tell her to use the original cable and see how that goes. Not a bad tip for a Yankees fan.

The cables are the same, but the power bricks are different. The iPhone uses a 5w charger... the iPad uses a 10w charger...
