How much storage capacity to get?

I have pretty much decided to get an iPad with 3G. I like the option of 3G data as well as location-aware services.

However, I was curious what current iPad users think about the storage capacity options. I've had an iPhone 3G for two years, and it still has 5.6 GB of free space.

My planned usage includes the following activities:
1. Surfing
2. Reading documents (PDFs, docs, etc.)
3. Audio-visual apps (synthesizers, sequencers, etc.) mostly for fun
4. Casual games

I tend to use a separate mp3 player for music, and I am not one to watch many videos on the go. I have no interest in eBooks. And the thought of loading tons of content through iTunes for Windows and/or backing up that content makes me feel mildly nauseous.

I was thinking about the 16 GB + 3G, but I was curious if the size of the apps and associated data plus maybe a high-res movie or two would fill up the 16 GB faster than I think it might.

Some answers based on experience would be really helpful in making my decision in the next couple of days.

Thanks!

I got the 32gb. I thought of getting the 16gb at first but I might get addicted to the APPS and find myself lacking space so I wanted to be ready for that. You don't know, you might be overwhelmed of what the iPad can do. 32gb will do for most people.

FRom your description I would say just stick with the 16Gig. I have a 16Gig 3G. I have about 3Gig of Music, a bunch of books, 1000 Contacts, my email, and a TON of apps (100+) including one Navigation app which takes up a lot of room. I still have 3-4 Gigs left. If you don't do Video I say save some money for accessories.

ButIf you ever want to do Video.....go with the 32Gig.

Got myself the 16gb. I don't keep music on it as i have the Iphone for that and I have 3 movies and all my email/exchange sync'd. Have 25 apps so far and some pictures and still have over 12GB left.

I will use it mainly for surfing and as a lab top replacement for short trips. Guess it all depends on what you use it for. The apps don't take up that much room....it's the media that will.

I have a 32gb but that is only because I sync about 8-12 gbs of music, 32 gb is the size of my iPhone and I felt lazy to setup different music to sync to iPad and iPhone. After having it for a little while I kind of feel like it's a little bit over kill but I prefer to play it safe. I don't want to deal with wanting to sync something and not have enough room and start juggling things around. Most PDFs and books though are under 1mb and apps usually aren't that big either 300mb is the biggest ive come across and it was a game heh.

I agree that you should run a search on your own to get the best results. This will achieve nothing, just like the numerous previous posts/threads saying exactly the same thing.

Except that, in the post that you quote, the poster DID make a decision and act on it. Am I missing something?

Well I got the 64 because if you want to put some movies on it for when your traveling you will need the space. Also for the money difference you get the biggest as if and when they come out with a new os you want to make sure you will have access to all the features.
