THIS. Target, Walmart, and Best Buy usually have pretty good holiday discounts. I've rarely seen the Apple Store have the cheapest price for their products this time of year.

I'm picking up a used one later today that comes with a smart cover...save a bit now and then might sell it again later if I really needed the 2nd gen for some reason, but I suspect I'll be happy with this one for a while.

Any particular reason why? This is actually my first used Apple product (although it's mint condition, in original case, with all accessories plus a smart cover) but it was a great experience and I saved a few hundred dollars.

Hygienic? I hadn't thought about that! I know with apple used is almost like new but not. I've always bought new myself. Probably because I'm the only owner.
