Buying a iPad Pro

Hi I decided I am going to break down and buy a iPad Pro 12 in. I am getting tired of lugging my MacBook Pro around on trips and conferences. I don't really need a full notebook. It is getting very close to refresh time. I am one of those nuts that like to have the newest toys. I need one by October (real busy travel month). Should I break down and get one or at least wait till the conference for the new iPhone. I just don't think a new iPad will be appearing them. Also do people think that buying a iPad this late in the cycle is a problem. Like I said I hate buying things this late in the cycle? What wanted people's thoughts or suggestions.

If it is the device you want, why not?

Fretting about the next release cycle and FOMO is a never ending problem... Jump off the wheel and grab that brass ring. Whatever is released will not diminish the capabilities of the device that is current. It still has what it has and does what it does.

Push the FOMO out of your mind with a new mantra. A bird in the hand, a bird in the hand, a bird in the hand...

I have done the same thing, my Macbook Pro sits in its dock at home and does not leave the house as much as it used to. I find that I can do 99% of my tasks on the iPad Pro. It is a fantastic machine and just works.

You will like the iPad Pro. As I wrote before in these forums I prefer the 12.9 inch screen. You should be happy you made the purchase.

WOW... I was in the same boat as you... I travel a lot... I coach Ice Hockey and a High School Surf team... I also own a Insurance Agency. I am all over the place and in need of my phone/computer all the time. Lugging my 15in Mac Pro all the time was getting old and I am also in need of the latest and greatest tech.

I first bought the 9.7 and took it back 2 days later and purchased the big boy.

Could not be happier!!! I love the key board as well!!! I coached 16 games this weekend and used it after every game to take notes and communicate with my families/players. SO SO nice and easy to use.

Best of luck... Now, I just hope we don't get a new iPad Pro announcement on Wednesday!!! HAHA

You have to keep in mind that you're buying and iPad and not a another MacBook. You wrote you don't need a full usage of a computer so I totally recommend you to buy the iPad Pro. It's a lot thinner than a MacBook and I think this is going to be really helpful to you.
I don't think Apple is going to introduce a new iPad on this upcoming event so don't worry about being late. An iPad isn't an iPhone that you upgrade every year. Go ahead and buy it.

I think you should buy the ipad pro 9.7 it has all the things that the 12 in has and then some pluse it cost less. Also it came out later the 12", so techniquely it's the 'new toy'

i suggest you buy the 9.7.. yes it's smaller than the 12" but you dont need that much big tablet. dont throw your macbook, it's still one of the best. soon you'll realize you need it. your macbook pro have you covered for those future bigger tasks. anyways, you eithier buy 9.7 or 12" it doesnt matter. if size is your thing, you know what to buy.

Hi,

do you think buying one right now or wait for the next gen because I'm planning to get one Pro 12.9 but which version/model do you recommend the most Wi-fi version or 4g mobile version ??
Thank you in advance.

The iPad Pro has always had a 256 GB variant.

Nope - They released the 256 Gig version the same time they released the 9.7 inch iPad Pro. I bought the largest capacity prior to the 9.7 inch iPad Pro release and it was only 128 Gigs, which is more than fine for my needs.

I stand corrected! Thank you for pointing that out.

The one thing I'm concerned about is the thinness in the 12.9" that's coming out sometime next year. If you look at the new MacBooks for example. No Nvidia card & the processor is somewhat a little slower than the 2015 model.

Could they do something like this in the new iPads. Make them thinner and have the processing speed or something else reduced to make it thinner?

I'm not sure about all of this. We won't know until the new ones are released. I might just buy one now and not think about the new ones. But this is just my opinion. Now to do some real thinking.
