128GB iPad Pro vs 256GB iPad Pro - Which should I get?

Looks like Apple finally gave me a reason to upgrade my original (yes, original, as in first ever, 16GB model) iPad.

I'm trying to figure out which storage option makes the most sense.

We have a very functional but old (going on 5 years) Macbook Pro that is fine for regular computing needs. I see this new iPad as a way to keep using the Macbook a little longer, and have something that is equivalent in computing power/word processing/web browsing/etc.

I hope to keep the next iPad for another 6 years, so does doubling the memory to 256 future-proof it more, or with all of the cloud-based storage options today do I even need to worry about that?

In any discussion around memory, I always say purchase as much as you can afford.

If you plan on using the iPad Pro to its fullest....like working with 4K videos, I'd say get the 256GB model as long as you can afford it. But don't just buy something just because its available. Be honest with yourself in regards to your needs.

Seriously though...256gb? I can't even imagine getting close to maxing out 128gb, but that's just me.

I cannot tell you how many times I have written this next quote..."It's better to have and not need than to need and not have"...purchase as much as you can afford.
You can thank me later

In September I was just about to pick up a 64 GB 6s Plus when I decided to switch to the 128 GB at the last second. It's crazy how easily you can use up storage space when you have space to use!
People tend to hold on to iPads longer than they do iPhones. 256 GB probably goes a lot further today than it will a few years from now.

GO big or go home, go for the 256. This way you future proof yourself. And the bigger the storage the more the resale value.

lol, I go for 32g ,everything are on cloud right now , don't need that much, this iPad Pro has only 2 g memory, can't give you 5 years to use, if you want to use more years, go for 12.9 iPad Pro 4g memory.

I am glad I didn't go for a 32GB. Installing MS Word, Excel, PPT, already took up 1.5GB. These apps are ridiculously huge in size.

I say go by what your wallet tells you. If you can afford the biggest one available on the market, then I would get that. Today I went back to the Apple store after 1 week of using the 128 GB and had a bit of a remorse and actually exchanged for the 256 GB model. Still perfect.

Always buy as much as you can afford. If you won't be storing an incredible amount of video and music on your device, go with 128GB. If you have to keep more than 128GB on your iPad or just plain want to own a 256GB device, go for it!

Steve purchased an iPad Pro 9.7" with 128GB of storage
Steve then took that device back and purchased one with 256GB of storage

Don't be like Steve, get what you know you want and avoid the hassle.
