Any Professional Writers That Use the Pro as Their Daily Driver?

Hello all!

I'm an author working on the third upcoming novel of my current series. (More background) I'm a homebody, but being a mother of many has me traveling quite a bit--whether it's out to schools or parks for the children, or even all around my home to keep up with them and other tasks.

I absolutely LOVE my 2015 MacBook Pro, but sometimes it's a hassle, and when I just need to clear my head to get my scenes together, I find myself closing it completely and pushing it aside to do my research on my iPhone 6S Plus. Also, not having it fit in my purse or a diaper bag is getting kind of annoying, as I take the thing literally everywhere.

Before Scrivener was developed for IOS, this wasn't even a question. I didn't even care to get an iPad honestly, because that was essential. And, though the Surface is pretty awesome, I don't want to go back to windows, and I've become spoiled with taking all of my texts and calls on my computer when I'm working and don't feel like dealing with my phone.

I'm thinking about giving my husband my MacBook Pro and grabbing an iPad Pro in another day or two. Are there any writers out there that use this as their day to day writing machine? Is there anything I should be aware of if I take the plunge? I'd still have a MacBook here if need me for small things, but I'd like to do the bulk of my work on the iPad and avoid the computer if I can. Thoughts?

First, I'd like to apologize because I'm not going to be any help in regards to your question because I'm no writer. I will say that there are some nice word processing applications available on the iPad Pro (Google Dogs, Microsoft Office, Pages, etc.) that may assist in what you're looking for. I personally do all of my school work on my Pro. This includes writing papers. Hopefully that helps?

The point of my post is to ask where I may go to read your work? Or if it is available publicly? My new years resolution was to read more this year so I'd be interested in supporting someone from iMore.

I'm not published so I don't know if I would be considered a professional writer. However I have completed a novel, currently writing 3 and I've participated in Nanowrimo for the past 5 years. I also write on my own blog and have written for a tech blog in the past. I love writing and I can tell you that the first novel I wrote was on a 3rd generation iPad in Notes. I then switched to Pages and the latest ones I'm writing on my 9.7" iPad Pro with a logitech keyboard. I also have a MacBook Pro but if it wasn't for the iPad I would have never finished the first story. I have 2 hours each day while going to and leaving work. When I am able to completely immerse myself in my writing. I would never be able to use the MBP while I'm on the train during those 2 hours a day. My advice is to keep the MBP for the first 2 weeks when you have the iPad. Once you know that it works with your flow then you can let the MBP go. In terms of writing however I don't see anything that you would be missing on the iPad as long as you have an internet connection. Assuming you need to do research at any point while you're out and about.

I am a different kind of writer. While I do like writing fiction I also write almost continuously for my job as a lecturer and I am also taking a Masters degree which involves a huge amount of writing for essays and blogs. While I use a MacBook Air some of the time I am increasingly using my iPad Pro 9.7 with Smart Keyboard. I find it is brilliant for my train commute and just in general when I want to be portable. Yet even at home I use it. I love the split screen function where I can have an article or a rough draft in front of me and cut and paste all on the same screen. The keyboard is great and really comfortable to type on. I am something of a sloppy typist so it is great to be able to tap the screen once to correct a word. I don't really miss the mouse. I have used specialist writer's apps and standard word processing and at the moment I am using mostly Word. The ability to cloud sync documents is very powerful. I don't have a cellular iPad so I use hotspot on my phone and sometimes I use a portable wifi box. So I fully recommend it.
