Of course there are some caveats. You obviously have to get the wi fi + cellular version, there is a 2 year contract required and there is a one time $40 fee. If those requirements are OK with you, it is a pretty good deal. I got mine on Friday. Very happy.

Thank you for posting this. I grabbed one of these for my father a couple weeks back. Huge upgrade from his 5 year old iPad 2. The first thing he says to me after I get it set up "Why is everything so much clearer on this one? I can actually read what it says now." The power of Retina Displays. You forget how the other half lives. I've had a Retina display on my iPad for 4 years. Complete game changer for my dad.
