i have older iPad just wondering how long it should take to charge a battery and once is charged how long would last ?

How long it takes to charge depends on when you connect it to a power source and the amount of charge left when you opt to charge it. As for how long the charge last, according to Serenity Caldwell (iMore Managing Editor), "...but so far nothing to suggest Apple's 10 hour estimation has changed."
