    Hi, Just bought a new iMac, and would like to connect, sync and back up my iPad Pro. When I try to connect my iMac tells me that it is only willing to let me do this if I start from scratch i.e. setting it up as a new iPad.

    How do it get past this??

    Did you transfer purchases over to the new iMac when prompted?

    Welcome to iMore! Are you using the same Apple ID on both devices? Using separate Apple IDs may be causing your problem.
