I'm on my 4th iPad ( an iPad Mini 4 currently ) and am a heavy Excel user at work. My typical files are 2 - 40MB in size, I use pivot tables and have numerous formulas with vlookup and other functions. My mini is able to run the files fr the most part, however the larger are taxing its capabilities and the screen size is obviously a challenge. I purposely have purchased an iPad mini my last two purchases for the extreme portability, it fits in my cargo front pockets. I recently have discovered a passion for drawing/painting digitally with my Adonit Jot 4 and AutoDesk Sketchbook, but the screen size and what appears to be a significant processing upgrade with the iPad Pro is tempting.

I'd like to be able to leave my MBP at the office, my workflow is all cloud based, but I need more than basic Excel computing power and am not sure if the iPad Pro has enough processing power to not have to carry my laptop to and from home daily. I've searched the web and can't find a review that addresses my question so if you have experience, I'd love to hear your feedback! I've tried to demo with my files via OneDrive at retail stores but cannot run due to "demo" mode limitations.

Thank you in advanced for your suggestions and comments!!

I'm not an advanced Excel user but I'm pretty sure you can't create pivot tables in Excel for iOS.

From what I do know though, I'd say what you're looking to do is not a limitation of the iPad, it's of the version of Excel made for iOS.

Thanks for your reply! Agreed pivot table creation is still not possible on iOS but existing pivots can be utilized. I also hope Microsoft will add the functionality of a typed search rather than just scroll from top to bottom on large sorts / pivots. I wonder how much better Excel will run/perform given the processor & ram differences between the iPad Mini 4 and iPad Pro?
