I would like to add a tint to my iPad Pro so that I can read it in bed, how can I do this?

Welcome to iMore! Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up Control Center and adjust the brightness.

Taken from my iPhone but it's the same on iPad.

You can't tint the screen. Some sunglasses work. But not all.

Yes, that's not doable on a stock iOS. But there is this sort of night mode in the iOS when you go to setting general accessibility invert color, some people like it to read, while it's not really a tint like you are looking for, that's the only thing close you can get on a stock iOS.
Jailbreak on the other hand have every single thing you can possibly want to have on your iPhone including of course tinting your screen however you wish.

I don't know about you but I use my iPhone in bed all of the time and don't have issues.

By tint I assumed OP meant dim.

If you don't mean brightness, some apps have a night mode which means light text on a dark background -- check your settings for the apps you need.

You can side load F.lux on iPhone, but not sure if it works on iPad Pro.

Also in Settings >General >Accessibility > Reduce Contrast > Toggle on reduce white point.

Try the low light filter, this is what I use on all my devices to read/function in darker places.

A "tint"? Take it to an auto body shop. Im sure they'll hook you up.

iOS 9.3 will have a night mode that basically gives the display a warmer tint to eliminate eye-strain while reading in the dark.

I used a similar feature on my LG G4 and it actually works wonders.
