All depends on how much storage you have on your iPad and the movies. I have movies that are 2 GB and them some are 4 GB. I have 6 movies on my iPhone and they take up 18 GB. If your movies are in iTunes and synced to the cloud, you can always sync them to your iPad and download them from the cloud at a later time. As you will see in the screenshot below, all movies are synced to my phone but only the ones I can view are the ones without the cloud icon. All the ones with the cloud icons can be downloaded at a later time as long as I have a Wi-Fi connection.

I will suggest Plex to you. Plex organizes your video, music, and photo collections and streams them to all of your screens. This way you really do not use up any storage on your iPad.

I hope this gives you some ideas and storage tips with video and your iPad.
