Auto Brightness seems to be always enabled

Hello fellow friends,

I have the odd problem, that i cannot disable auto brightness on my IPP (running iOS 11.3.1).

I disable the auto-brightness in settings (General -> Accessibility -> Display Accommodations -> Auto-Brightness -> OFF). But still, when using the IPP I frequently catch it turning the brightness down, which really annoys me, because I always have my devices on full brightness as it is most comfortable for my eyes.

Does anyone have similiar problems? Is this problem related to the hardware or may it be fixed by future iOS X updates?

When I had my iPad Pro, I do not recall noticing anything like that. Having said that, try resetting all settings and then disable auto-brightness to see if it fixes the problem.
