IPad as a external DSLR viewfinder

I am planning to use my iPad Pro as a view finder for my Nikon DSLR for video work, I am able to use an external monitor as a viewfinder currently with the HDMI cable from the camera

Is it possible to do this using the Apple lightning to HDMI Adapter? Anyone is doing this?

Is your camera wifi enabled? If yes, then you can connect your iPad via app and that might make your iPad a large size viewfinder for the DSLR.

Camera doesn’t have wifi ... that’s why thinking going HDMI route

Another route could be to use wifi enabled SD card such eye-fi. Have a look at this link,

I’ve looked this up after I just bought my iPad but turns out the iPad have this restriction where it can emit HDMI signal but forbidden from reading it, so no, unless you can work it out with duet perhaps.
