How do I erase data to create space on disabled iPad Mini?

It started when the iPad was disabled and I cannot Update or Restore it on iTunes because it needs me to erase some things to create space for the software update.

Put the device in recovery mode to be able to restore it, but know that if the device is protected with the iCloud Activation Lock, you will not be able to use the device unless you enter the correct iCloud credentials.

If you have messages turned on on your iPad you can delete that 1st since I’ve found that takes up a lot of space for me so when space is needed that’s where I turn to first. Not sure what iOS version you’re on but iPad Storage can help you manage what’s taking up space on your iPad
