I have a membership for a news and commentary website for which I usually download videos (as I always miss the live stream). It was hard enough to figure out how to download the video onto the ipad (use Chrome to copy the URL of the video, then use Downloads HD lite to capture it and save it), but now I can't figure out how to cast the locally downloaded video to my Chromecast. I know that it is a competitor of Apple TV but I'm hoping someone has found a way to do it. I found this app called TVCast but it looks like it can only cast things that are in the "Camera Roll". And I guess Downloads HD Lite isn't able to save the videos to the Camera Roll. Any suggestions on how I can accomplish this?

Maybe try the Plex app, which lets you stream local media to Chromecast.

VLC for iOS was supposed to add Chromecast support with version 3.0, I think?

It's a good app to download videos with, too. (Copy direct link, then save it.)

Edit: but the public version is still 2.6.6.

So unless you install a beta version, no joy there.
