How can you tell if an iPad Mini has water damage?

I am buying some ipad minis and wondering if there is a way to tell if they got water damaged? They seem to work

Can you tell if your Ipad mini got water damamged?

Apparently there is. If you open up the iPad, there is a piece of tape or something similar and if it's not its original colour its had water damage

If i'm not mistaken, all iPhones and iPads have a water damage indicator in the either the lighting port or headphone jack. If it comes in contact with water, it will turn red.
