Speculation: The reason for Apple to lower the price for iPad mini to $199

With such low entry price for the iPad mini, I am pretty sure that Apple is trying to sway buyers from buying phablets. Instead, opting for iPhone + iPad mini combo. But just how well will this effort do?

i agree with Karenkcoulter, they will drop the price when/if they decide to produce a new Mini.

very much doubt they will drop the price before that

If Apple does come out with the mini with retina display and decrease the current mini to a more reasonable price not only would it again be good business for Apple but it is all about competition with all of the new low cost tablets on the market. The new Kindle vs iPad commercial showing the iPad 4 w/ retina vs Kindle HD at half the price is pretty competitive to many buyers especially Amazon buyers. This hurts nobody and again good for everyone.
