Hello, I am a newbie on an iPad Air 2 and my son is an experienced android user on a galaxy tab. He is deployed in the Middle East and would like to communicate with videoconferencing so I am looking for something security conscious that is available for both platforms.

I also need something that has an ad-free version and a clean interface because of vision issues.

    Can you help?

    Welcome to the iMore forum!

Skype(owned by microsoft) works pretty good and easy. It is also free to use. Not sure about the security but I think you can find that at their website.
Also there is Google hangouts which is usually used for conference calling, that's ofcourse owned by Google so I don't really know what they do with that data.

I'd try skype first, I've used it for years communicating with people on the other side of the world.

Not sure how to mark this solved; he got an iThing and we're having Thanksgiving dinner on FaceTime.
