I got it this time because I'll have my iPad & 5S for at least 2 years. I'll be replacing my 2nd phone with my 5S whenever the new iPhone comes out and I don't change iPads often.

Yes, I have AppleCare+ for me and my wife's 5s iPhone. Accidents do happen when you least expect. I like the security

Its weird, I don't know what I was thinking. I got Apple Care on my iPad Air LTE but just went with AT&T's protection plan on my rMini and both iPhones. Having LOST a phone (who loses a phone!? ...apparently me.) AT&T's protection plan replaced my lost G2 so I'm a believer. I hope I never need the Apple Care or AT&T's protection plan but insurance is insurance.

On a laptop, absolutely. On an phone, no. There's a ($50?) fee to get a replacement phone with AppleCare, and there's a $200 fee to get a replacement without AppleCare. Since AppleCare costs $100, I'm really only saving $50 by purchasing it, and it's only a savings if I destroy my phone.

I got AppleCare for my MacBook Pro and it was definitely worth it. I haven't gotten it on any iPads or iPhones though.

Well, us poor folks have to protect our investments. You 1-Percenters just buy new toys. LOL. :)

Awe. I'll give you my 5c when I get the iPhone 6! <3

On a serious note though, AppleCare costs too much for the price I paid for the device. I've got insurance through my carrier. It's $5 a month and $175 deductable. Doubt I'll even use it though.

Over ten years with sprint I always bought the protection till the deductible went up and I never used once in all those years

It's true I don't keep a phone longer enough anyhow but I know I should have it and will regret it someday

Well, somehow, I'm planning to keep my current iDevices for 18 months (somehow, someway...I can do it, I know I can...I think I can). So the protection made kinda since for me.

I don't think there is a $50 fee to get a replacement under AC for a iPhone. There's a $79 fee for 2 occurrences of accidental damage.
If you keep a phone longer than a year it's good to have.

Ah so it's gone up then. Was $50 per accidental replacement when I was offered Apple Care last year.

I still don't personally feel it's worth it from my experience. I've never had a phone that had a defect outside of the 1-year warranty (not saying it can't happen though), and since Apple will provide an accidental damage replacement for $200 without Apple care, paying $100 for a chance to pay another $79 just seems like a waste to me.
