Is the October 22nd announcement date official?

That date has been reported and attributed to 'sources', but has it been officially confirmed? I cannot find any info.

Apple’s rumored Oct 22 iPad event is as official as it gets until Apple sends out invites.

We should probably know on Tuesday the 15th if the 22nd is the date for the announcement. Apple typically sends out the invitations one week before the date.
