When I delete an app, why does it still show up with a "cloud"

There are some apps I installed only to find out they were not what I wanted so I deleted them. But they still appear but with a "cloud". Some I don't mind keeping but others I want gone. How do I remove unwanted apps completely?

Your purchase history will show that app. The "cloud" icon is a link to allow you to download it again, should the mood strike.

You can easily hide any app that you no longer want to see. Follow the steps below from your iOS device:

1. Open the App Store
2. Go to Updates tab
3. Tap My Purchases
4. Scroll to the app you want to hide
5. Tap and slide the entry to the left
6. Tap the HIDE button that appears on the far right
7. Repeat until you've hidden everything that you want to hide
