Does the new ipad air hav a nfc chip ?

Did apple actually put in an NFC chip in there ?

(Almost) Any device that can do pay will have NFC - and it can only be used for that... for now...

Not quite. The iPad Air 2 doesn't have an NFC chip so it can't do payments at a payment terminal at a retailer. However since it has the fingerprint reader, it can do in app ApplePay transactions.

Yes u are right about the finger print reader and apple pay
But a Chinese company has found an NFC chip inside the new ipad air 2....
But it cannot be used yet...
I think apples gonna keep it for some time and one fine day they might activate it ( surprising us all, so they can brag abt their products again )

The iPad Air 2 released in Oct 2014 does not have an NFC chip.

It does have the nfc chip that has the secure element but doesn't have the radio to use nfc

It has the chip but not the radio . The nfc chip has the secure element used in Apple pay so you can use it on apps on the iPad
