Been searching for a while now and was wondering what you might suggest for a case for the Air 2. I'm not looking to spend $$$ so the Apple Smart Case is really not in consideration. I'm looking for a case, not a cover, which provides decent protection, good value, good construction, has a professional appearance, and if it can act as a stand/folio that would be a great plus. If there was something that looked like a leatherbound something like Indiana Jones' diary in the Last Crusade that would be stellar to see.

Suggestions? Fire away.

I agree.
I have the Apple smart case and it is worth it.
It feels great when holding it and when used as a stand, it is very solid. You will need to actually try to get it fall over.

I'm interested in the Apple smart case, but I've heard that it doesn't fit the iPad Air 2 very well. Numerous personal reviews I've read say that it seems that it wasn't changed from the size of the iPad Air (larger), so it is ill-fitting on the iPad Air 2. Any thoughts?

Fits my iPad Air 2 perfect. Even the bottom speaker holes line up perfect. Well worth the price.

I have the smart case which is made for Air 2. Fits perfectly. It is very easy to insert and remove the ipad and as SnapThrow said, all the holes line up perfectly.

Don't know about the case for original Air, maybe that doesn't fit so well?

My friend got a Moko case for both his Mini 1 last year and another for his Mini 2 this year and they both are very good quality

The Apple Smart case for the Air 2 fits very well. All buttons, etc., are perfectly positioned. I like the feel of the leather, but do not like the stand and keyboard positions.

When the Speck Stylefolio comes out, I may get that. Or I may head for the Belkin Ultimate Pro Keyboard Folio case that has a detachable back Air 2 case on it. Looks like a pretty cool setup; but seems expensive and I suspect it is going to be heavy.

The smart case for 1st iPad air 2 fits but the holes do not line up and the camera hole was covered. I had to return it and order the correct case from Apple.

How does it work as a stand? My Air Apple case was terrible at that and would keep folding. Also the cover never laid flush.

Are these taken care of in the Air 2 case?

IMO the Smart Case for the Air 2 as a stand does not function well. Other cases are sturdier and offer more position options. But they just a bit thicker/heavier.

I found both cases to work fine as a stand in my opinion and experience. The first air didn't fit flush with the case but the 2 does imo
