Why doesn't "Hey Siri" work on the new 5th gen iPad without being plugged in? Did they just want to have it be a Pro only feature? It has the same cpu and coprocessor as the iPhone 6s so I assumed it's capable of it and they just disabled it for some reason.

It doesn’t work because Apple doesn’t want it to work. It’s all marketing, and Apple isn’t even close to the only company guilty of disabling a feature on a device perfectly capable of handling it.

My 12.9” Pro (1st gen) doesn’t have always on Hey Siri either. I don’t miss it a whole lot but it would be nice to have it. Luckily my iPhone 7 Plus isn’t usually too far away!

Thanks I figured that was the case, but I wasn't sure.
