I haven't notice my iPad 4 getting warm, but it has been normal for my charging cord to sometimes get warm.

Both my old iPad 3 and 4 got slightly warm while charging which I believe is normal. However, it shouldn't getting too warm. If it is I would make an appointment with an Apple Genius and get them to look at it just to be sure.

I've found with all of my devices they tend to get a little warm while using and charging at the same time. I think this is normal

I have only noticed either the device and/or the wall-plug the cord goes into getting warm. Will have to check the cord.
