I'm about to get the new iPad 32GB with at&t for $729. The 11" Air is $999, I can have a real computer and a physical keyboard. My data plan on my iPad 2 is $30 a month and will be the same for the air with a pre-paid USB air card from at&t. I carry my IPad 2 everyday and do basic things with it. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

What are you going to do with the new device? That answer will go a long way towards answering your question... Is the iPad2 still fully functional? Do you have a laptop now? If so, how old is it and what is its condition?

In all seriousness. the New iPad (aka "iPad 3") is nice, but not "throw away your iPad 2 and replace a fully functioning iPad2" nice.

Just one man's opinion...

I don't have the new iPad so maybe I'm not a reliable source but I would rather have a Laptop than an iPad. I have an OG iPad and a winter 2011 MacBook pro. The iPad is nice but it doesn't compare to the MacBook . I do use the iPad as my main sorce for notes at school and writing some shorter papers but I can live with out upgrading. I will however upgrade to the iPad 4 (name pending). The faster processor and graphics of the new iPad are just not enough for my needs. Your needs may differ. But that's just how I feel. I'm content with the setup I currently am running

If your iPad 2 is working fine and you need a computer I would get the MBA and skip the iPad 3.

Thanks guys! I have a 5 years old MacBook so it makes sense to get the Air. I will go look at the 11" & 13". Anybody uses an 11" on a dally basis? How do you like it?

The screen is a bit small for my taste... but I had one and used it quite a bit... my daughter now has it and absolutely loves it. It's very portable.

I have the 11" now and the majority of the time I have it plugged into an external monitor with Apple's Bluetooth keyboard/trackpad which works great. I take it with me when I travel, etc..the rest of the time. If I didn't have the monitor I would probably go with the 13".

I would go with the Mac since you already own a functional iPad. LTE and screen resolution are nice but aren't worth the purchase if you already have an iPad.

I would probably get the Air, it's almost a no brainer since you have a perfectly good iPad2 already. :)

get the air, but I would go with the 13 inch. I have a 13 inch macbook pro and have been really happy with the screen size. the 11 was just too small.
