iPad and Apple tv

For Christmas I got an iPad 2 and apple tv. I have turned on mirroring with the iPad but was wondering if there is anyway to widen the picture on my tv. I have it in landscape and the picture is bigger obviously than in portrait but I would like it to take up the whole tv if possible.

Any help would be appreciated

You need to change the setting on your TV to 4:3. That's what aspect ratio the iPad uses.

Use AirPlay for the stuff you can, that also uses the full screen.
