you are the first person ive seen get a shipment notification , even before those who ordered at or around 4 am.

Yes, I ordered through Apple. I ordered a 16GB Black Wi-Fi only version. Needless to say I am "patiently" pacing for the iPad 2 to get here. I sold my original iPad 2 months ago to recover as much money as possible.

I ordered a 64GB White at 4:10am (EST) and it now shows "prepared for shipment".

I also decided later to order a blue polyurethane cover (11am EST) with a 1-2 week shipping estimate and it also shows "prepared for shipment", so it appears Apple is overestimating shipping times (smart...).

Shipment Notification

Ordered a 64GB Black iPad and gray cover @1:11 am yesterday. Original info said "ships in 3-5 business days" and estimated delivery "March 18-25".

Got notification yesterday that the cover shipped and will be delivered on March 15. Got notification today that my iPad has shipped and will deliver by March 18. Checking the Fedex tracking info, they say it will deliver March 17 by 4:30 pm. YES! That's earlier than originally indicated in the confirmation email from Apple. Can't wait! As I'm currently in Europe and don't get home until the 17th, this will work out perfectly. Will kind of be like Christmas in March!

Well I had ordered 2 of them from Apple and got the 18-25th delivery date as did many. For the heck of it I stopped into Best Buy this morning knowing that they would be out but I wanted to check out the demo. They had 5 left in stock! I cancelled my Apple order at the counter with my iPhone and bought them there. Funny thing was I could only buy one at a time per BB rules. So I had to buy one, take it to my car, and go back into the store to buy the second one.

Fed Ex tracking says both iPads I ordered will be here on 3/17/11. I guess they are individually boxed because I have 2 tracking numbers for 1 order. Very excited

Ordered at 1:02amPT, first told would ship in 3-5 business days, but now am Apple-emailed that it has shipped and will arrive March 18. But, like others apparently, FedEx says March 17.

I placed my order about 1:15am PT and got the 3/18-3/25 delivery estimate. Checking my order just now, I'm currently prepared for shipment, but haven't actually shipped yet.

Can anyone tell from their tracking numbers where the shipments are originating?

SHENZHEN CN <-- just looked at my fedex tracking. I figured China. Mine is due Mar17 by 4p (approx) 16GB wifi only.

Mine shows China, but it says delivery exception. Looking further, I see it was picked up after the cutoff Oh well, either way, I am still on track for the end of next week.

I got shipment confirmation less than an hour ago, delivery to Northern California by 3/16, from Shenzhen, China.

Correction: Apple's email said 3/16, FedEx says 3/17. :/

mine says the same thing but I think it may ship by the 16th and will update in Fed ex on monday. At least that was the case for my smart cover. Either way I'm just happy I have a way of tracking it now!

My iPad, smart cover, and AV adapter have finally all shipped (separately).
Apple says the iPad will be delivered by 3/18. FedEx says by 3/17. I hope Fedex is right because I travel on the 18th and would be nice to have the new iPad with me. Either way, it's only a week or so.
