Speaking of Weather Apps, I just read about an app that may be of interest to all of you “Weather Fanciers”! I was reading a post by the local office of the National Weather Service on Facebook (gasp, I know, but we’re in for some icy roads tonight and tomorrow). Anyway, at the end of the post, there was a bit about an app called mPING. Here’s a screenshot from the post on Facebook:

    Attachment 130445

And, hereAttachment 130445 are two screenshots from the App Store:

    Attachment 130446
    Attachment 130447

I installed it. Let me know what you think!
Took a look. Doesn't do anything, other than allow you to report weather. Some may enjoy that, but I'm not gonna bother with it.

I'm literally listening to the song, "Float On" by the Floaters and the song continues to play when I open the "MyRadar Pro" app.
I'm presently in discussion with the developers of MyRadar Pro re the intermittent display since their recent bug fix update. They feel it might be my VPN inhibiting it, although it's worked well with Norton360 enabled up until now. Let's see how this pans out. I've re- cycled the VPN which restored the display but only for a few minutes. (?)

My Radar seems fine again today. VPN active and displays are now again solid. So reference to the 'VPN' may have been a red-herring. I have informed the developers and try to keep them in the loop. I was suspicious - as this all started with a 'bug-fix' update.

I've changed my Carrot 5 display to one I think is ( for me) more comprehensive. I also used my 'premium' to select Dark Sky in its new '  based involvement' which 'offshore' is night & day different from their former performance. It's a great combination in this region. If a few more App developers include 'openweathermap' in their choices of source ( only seen it on 'Today Weather' & as a web -page) I'll try it.

That's good! And with the forecast of the impending polar vortex affecting much of the US in a few days, we are going to rely on YOU to share your lovely weather with us, so that we can live vicariously through you!

Very much so. - I'd stayed away from it in the past as Dark Sky previously, ( Carrot's original sole-source) though likely super in the US/UK, was really out to lunch elsewhere, even on their Web display. It was them ( Dark Sky) who advised me that their own App was only available in App Stores of countries supporting it. ( neither Canada nor Barbados) That seems all in the past now though but as 'single source' ie free on Carrot ,-the change to Foreca isn't a bad one.

When you say "Pro", do you refer to the Premium Subscription? If so, what does that offer that other weather apps don't have? I don't subscribe, but I don't have ads either.

No ads on mine but in the subscription version the time frame runs out more than a day in its predictions. - almost a week- handy....I think one can store many more favourite locations as well. I realize how much more polished it is by comparison to the Web version on iMac where there is no App available.
When you say "features that other weather apps don't have" do remember that I am not shopping in the US Appstore - I use the Canadian store -as I use a Canadian C/C & address to support purchases. (They must match) I could use the Barbados store too but it's even more limited. The mostly US Apps I can choose from simply are weak outside the US - and many European providers do list in the Canadian store. I believe MeteoEarth is German based, openweathermap UK, Foreca Is Finnish, YR No Norway, and so on. Many USA apps don't cover or update the tropics overly well if beyond Puerto Rico . Several 'choices' when multi sourcing happens have similar issues. ClimaCell seems to ( where info is limited) only use airport data. Aeris likewise but at least updates more regularily. I'm sure that US developers and sources can't afford to cover locations well when they have fewer local subscribers.

I usually keep my MeteoEarth setup like this. I've had it for quite awhile. I don't see ads or a 'pro/premium' version within the app.

I get a weeks or more weather predictions in other apps. And I can add more locations. I seem to have everything but the 5 days ahead animations. $8.99 per year isn't much, but I just don't need it.
