I'm curious about why it's not more posts from iMore members in this thread. I guess not that many people like customization or widgets on their iPhones. I sure do and I've been waiting for Apple to do some kind of customization for years.

For me, I was initially excited. I had Windows phones for years prior to MS dumping us. Live tiles on these phones were great and customize !!! Holy moley, you could do so much. (truth be told, I set my screen as I liked and never really changed it). I just don't care for the widgets. Maybe that'll change down the road.

Personally having been on iOS since my beloved iPhone 4S, iOS 5, I find that iOS 14's upgrades eclipse those when iOS 7 changed so many things both display wise & under the hood. I indicated elsewhere in this forum that iOS 14 ( IMHO) is revolution, not evolution in the flexibility & customization it finally makes available. And it can only get better over time

Yes, I've used Blackberry and Samsung in which customization was part of the excitement of smartphones for me, and then when I finally decided to change to the iPhone I really missed it and often thought about reverting back to platforms with customization over the years, however I didn't and welcome Apple's version of customization. I guess that's why I like BeWeather weather app so much because of the custom weather sets I'm able to use.

Here's one of mine. It's not the front page, but I am proud of the widget I made. I really want a count down widget for Thanksgiving, but I have to buy a premium app, and I'm not sure which one.

I think Color Widgets have a free countdown where you can use your own background, however I think you loose the time widget within the app.

I suspect that in this era of security within security, people are trending away from anything posting information which they feel could be used in a profile scenario by nefarious characters too. Anything deemed 'personal information.' such as a weather location gets some upset if displayed publicly.

I really love it but some of the work around for basic things like being able to change app icons and using shortcuts can be really annoying especially when they fail to open altogether. But seeing this glimpse of customization on Apple devices is a welcomed surprise coming from Android.
