It literally just did it for about 20 seconds and then stopped they were blinking on and off as if they were black boxes and then show the widget rapidly blinking.

If it happens again I will reboot. It stopped before I even had a chance to get my fingers on the buttons LOL.
Oh OK. I think I would reboot anyway, just in case...LOL

I had my Widgets set up but as the day went by I couldn’t stand them anymore and went back to my normal app set-up

I’m enjoying all the other cool features on iOS 14 but I’m not doing the home screen widget thing
Glad to know I’m not the only one who has no use for them! I went to the left-of-home page and started messing with them, and I couldn’t find anything I’d want to give up home page space for. Kinda cool I guess for gadget geeks, but they’re just not for me. I wish they’d take some of the resources they spend on this stuff that’s useless to me and just smarten up autocorrect!

Got rid of all folders, just one Smart Stack don’t want to take a chance on widget overload . I don’t have a lot of apps I use mostly stock so the App Library organized them fine for me.

Try turning off auto brightness, and see what happens. I also found this link, it seems to be a bug.

Thank you Joe! I will try the brightness adjustment. If it keeps happening I’ll just omit the widgets for now NBD

I don’t have too many apps that offer widgets, plus I still love an empty home screen. I removed my app page because I typically pull down & use search to find what I need. So I just added The Weather App widget & 2 small stacks (1 that includes the NY Post/Podcasts app & the other is Activity/Batteries) on the screen to the left of my home screen. Very simple & my home screen stays clear

Most of the things I want widgets for don’t have them and the most useful (for me) iOS apps like Find My and Favorites are gone. 🤷🏻*♀️
However a plus is I’ve finally learned how to make shortcuts. I also don’t like a cluttered screen so my apps remain in one row of folders at the top of my Home Screen and my most used apps on the second page. If they were widgets I’d turn them into a stack and that would make my little OCD heart happy.
Widgets are regulated to the Today screen. One Smart Stack with Weather, Calendar, Maps, Music, Photos and Siri Suggestions. Then shortcut widgets.

You might try removing all your widgets. Then Reset All Settings. That fixes a lot of issues. It's a bit of trouble, but might work.

Curious, why does the phone battery widget, show in yellow, versus green? Thanks

Simple gives me less anxiety LOL

It’s yellow because I had low power mode turned on.

    Believe me, I hear ya!

I am half tempted to start trying all these Shortcuts and changing icons/colours of the icons. But, that slow transition between Shortcuts to actually running the app, is making me take pause.

Fingers crossed more developers will design more widgets and offer more options
