When I take a photo from the phot app, no problem, location tags. When I take one from the message app, no location data. What gives?

I never really care about that so haven't checked, but, I'd check this setting: Settings / Privacy / Location Services. Scroll down to Messages - is it set to "Never"?

(Ok, I just checked and photos that I take in messages and get saved to the camera roll do have location set.)

I checked the setting and it says while using app. Took a photo just now from a message, no location.

Yes, just tested it and I saw the same thing.

So I guess if this is important to you just take photos from the camera app?

As I said - I am seeing the same thing.

Perhaps Apple decided to extend privacy protections, perhaps it is a bug that slipped through.
