Nobody ever knows for sure, but Apple has a big event today introducing new features in iOS and macOS. If both aren't updated today I would be very, very surprised.

The rumors are that there will be new subscription-based news/magazine, video, and perhaps game services, which will likely require updates to the News, TV, and perhaps App Store apps in iOS, tvOS, and macOS. It's possible that there will be a 12.1.5 for these, but since Apple has been beta-testing 12.2 for weeks, that seems far more likely.

It's possible that these features are coming later, and that these OS updates will come later, too. But I highly doubt that myself - I think that these services and the OS updates are coming either today or in the coming days.
