    So I only have notifications turned on for VIP, and also for any threads where I've enabled the "notify me" option.

    I've currently got a "2" on my mail app which isn't for VIP, and I know it's not for anything else because other Mail notifications are turned off.

    How can I filter my mail so that I can see threads for which I've turned on notifications ?

    There doesn't appear to be an obvious option.

    I am running IOS 10 on an iPhone 7+

    I'm an *****, it's because I had removed the "thread notofications" filter in the mailboxes view. Doh

    So I've answered my own question.
