AR and even VR does require quite a lot of processing power. Which is why phones generally get quite hot with VR headsets. So I would probably wouldn't have believed Apple if they said the iPhone 5s would get it with IOS 11 😃
Apple apparently said they only supporting the A9 and A10 chip because Those processors deliver 'breakthrough performance' that enables fast scene understanding and lets you build detailed and compelling virtual content on top of real-world scenes. 😃
It's exciting times, and as more iPhones gets released, there will be more people upgrading and able to use it.
