Does anyone has the same issue? I updated my iPhone 6s to iOS 10.0.2 yesterday. I didn't realize this problem until I want to make a call to my friend today. I check for other data, thanksfully, photos are all stored intact, but I lose my notes. How to get them back? I've done a backup on iTunes, but I don't want to erase the existing data (some new contents are not yet backed up.) Any idea? Thanks in advance.

Interesting. I'm not sure why you two have lost contacts and/or notes. I've been using iOS 10 Dev Beta since it's release and haven't lost any of my 644 contacts or 53 notes. I'm currently running Dev Beta iOS 10.1 (#4) and there still there. That's why it's highly suggested that you do a device backup before updating.
Maybe someone can chime in with a way to get them back.

Why should it have to erase data before the restoration. That's why I miss my Android phone.
