So I have an older car and a third party Bluetooth adapter (wirecutter recommended HIMbox) that goes to aux-in. Apple maps will not recognize this as a car Bluetooth so I am wondering if I can by one that it will. Any recommendations without having to replace the head unit completely? I also wonder how it identifies care Bluetooth- ie available Bluetooth protocols?

I have an Automatic adapter and wonder if that is giving me the car location in iOS. My car also has Bluetooth so could be that. I'll have to test it.

I have Bluetooth build into my BMW (but no stupid iDrive stuff), and I deleted the bluetooth pairing and redid it after I did the iOS 10 install.

It hasn't added a My Car pin on Maps.

Mine is working after doing the following:

Settings - Privacy - Location services - System services - turn on frequent locations.
