iOS 10 GM for public beta.

How many of you have installed it, and is it different for the public betas ?

The dev and public beta GM builds are the same. It's what everyone else will get on the 13th.

do we need to delete our beta profile on 13th. to download the complete iOS /

You can delete or keep it for future beta updates. You don't need to delete it. It'll be the same thing anyways.

10.0.1 is complete! You can keep the profile to use for testing upcoming iOS 10 updates. Or delete it if you wish.

Ok I'm confused. I get the message below when trying to update my phone, even though I have enough storage for the update. And yet my iPad that has even less storage than my phone is updating just fine. Grrr! [emoji35]

Personally, it's been the snappiest iOS 10 Dev Beta!

So delete some music, or video files...update, then put back what you deleted...

I have no music on my phone. No vids either. But I did delete a couple small things and it's working now. Just weird that my iPad did fine since it was more full. These 16GB devices just aren't doing it these days. I will be really glad when I can upgrade. Anyway, iPad is now done and phone is almost done. [emoji1303]

It is working like a charm on my iPad Mini 2. I am updating my iPhone 5S now and will do my 6S when it is officially released, since it is not on the beta.

all in all.. it`s good.. fast on my iphone 6s.

what about iphone 5,5c,5s people ?

it does that for safety reasons so that the update might not crash in the process and brick your phone.

It feels nice and it looks way more crisp to me than ios9

it is. besides the UI they only have made major changes in music and message app. Nothing more to excite me

When I go to update, it says my device is up to date with iOS 10.0..... how do I complete the GM update?

Make sure in general settings you remove the beta profile. Then the GM update should show in updates.

Working great on my 5S. The beta has been very snappy and smooth.

no need to remove the beta profile.. Search for the update on wifi. and do a restart then try.

I LOVE the smart archiving feature in Mail. I have a lot of sub-folders and I'm pretty anal about filing away all my read email. This smart feature is a blessing for me.

You don't have to delete the profile. You can keep it to do beta going forward in iOS 10. There will likely be a few updates along the way. Or you can delete it.

iOS 10 betas have been very stable since the first beta. I'm liking it very much.

It's solid on my 5s. Very snappy.

Running on a 6S seems fast and very responsive. I may have had issue when testing iOS 10. Every time my phone hit 10% charge, it would turn off and want me to connect to the power. Did anyone else have this issue? Planning on seeing how it goes with GM before talking to .

I didn't have that issue on my 6s.

no i never had that issue. I even drained my battery to 1% but phone never switched off

How do the iMessege features work? I cant find a way to do most of them. How do you do the big shaking like shouting text and all that? Balloons, confetti, etc. Is there a guide on how it all works somewhere? [emoji848]

3D Touch the send button and the menu will pop up. If you select the arrow by the message bar, the option to send the beating heart, etc will be available.

Oh, so some of that will not work if I just have the 6 plus and not a 6s, correct?

I like it, very smooth.

I wished there were more new features.

My only complaint thus far is that the wallpaper looks "dirty" on the home screen. Especially if it has a white background. To see what I mean, set a white background wallpaper to "both" then go back int settings as if you're going to set a new wallpaper and it shows the current side by side. The home screen thumbnail is darker. It is not like this on ios9.

yes that`s the point. they have only focused on messages and music in iOS 10. On the other hand they should have added some new features which would have made the people upgrade instantly

Indeed it is, now iPad Pro is so fast I can literally feel it, battery life on iPad and iPhone have improved as compared to the previous beta versions.

Running public GM on both my devices, 64GB 6S and 16GB 6, and running great. I've had the beta since it was released.

They've been darkening the screens a long time. But it got worse in iOS 10 beta. I Reset All Settings, and it got back to like in iOS 9. Light colored wallpapers will still darken. Some will. But it's been like that several years.

HUH? Are you talking about the iMessage effects? On my 6s Plus, I have to long press on the blue arrow to bring up the effects menu. And reduce motion has to be off in Accessibility. That what you refer to?

Yep. Doesn't look as though that will change soon. Send feedback on it. If enough folks complain, maybe they'll change how it works. That's what the guy from the beta team told me.

I just keep it. Then when the next beta rolls around I'm ready to go.

I downloaded the iOS 10 GM for public. I like the look of the redesigned control center, the lock screen notifications and widgets.

Yeah that really bothers me that they did that. I had beta one and two and it worked fine. I honestly can't stand the animations so I guess I'll have to miss out on that part of messaging.

Has anyone tested iOS 10 on any older devices? I have a 6 Plus right now and I'm afraid that iOS 10 will slow it down just like iOS 9 did when it was first released. It took months to get any kind of decent performance back under iOS 9.x on my iPhone 6 Plus.

Sadly I can't get the iPhone 7 Plus yet so I have to keep my hands on my 6 Plus until I can get some money together to buy it which may be a month or two. I would really hate to be stuck in the slow lane until that happens.

I don't understand your question...you said older device and 6 Plus.. what do you think we can test on? We don't have 7's yet.. we're all testing on devices like the 5s, 6, 6-plus. It's perfectly fine, fast, good battery life, speedy.. all good. We don't get 7's to test.. wish we did, but sadly no.

I'm running 9.3.5 on my old iPhone 5. It does surprisingly well. A bit sluggish at times. But not bad at all. The 6 Plus should have no issues with 10. My 6s Plus does great on 10. If it feels constrained, delete some stuff.

I classify the 6 Plus and anything older than that as "older devices" since they have less than 2 GBs of RAM like the 6s has.

My iPhone 6 seems much better on iOS 10 than it did on iOS 9. If that helps at all.

What time in Tuesday will the download be available? Is it Midnight or 10 am/pt like with everything else?

If I remember correctly it's usually around 10am pacific time.

most of us nowadays in india normally use the messenger services like whatsapp, wechat etc so whats the use of animating the message app on iOS .

i have an old spare iphone 5s and downloaded the ios 10 pubic GM and runs pretty smooth. The battery performance is amazing and much much better than ios 9. There is very little or unnoticeable lag which would hardly matter you.SO i would recommend you to go for it. You have my word.

i would disagree with you. the iph 6 is not old . The older devices would consists of 5,5c and 5s . The iphone 6 and 6 plus is very much way ahead of many devices in the market .here in india

Go to album and delete the deleted pics. Second: go to iTunes Store and click Buy on the movie lord of the rings two towers. This will make you gain some space. Note: when appears the movie price just give up, don't buy. Just simulate. Do it 2 or 3 times and you'll see you'll gain space.

My battery drains very fast. Am I the only one?

Has been running good for me lately. Had a few problems early on in the beta, and I even removed it for awhile. No big issues now.

Messages is the default messaging app. A lot of us use it by default.

Running great for me. No problems.

nops infact battery life is very decent as compared to ios 9.

you could reset your device and then check. Sometimes resetting helps to make the os work more efficiently

That totally depends on the usage. Here in india mostly whatsapp is used not the default message as it is chargeable and could even go upto ₹5(5 rupees) ie approx $0.7

Working really well on an iPhone 5! The betas have been very stable with iOS 10

You would have to regardless. Had to delete the 9 beta profile to install the 10. Would assume you would have to delete the 10 profile to install the 11, etc.

Where do you get that statistic? I don't use any 3rd party messenger service. Actually the people I message with, office, friends, etc.. do not use 3rd party message services. Can I see where you get the "most of us" part?

I completely agree and understand. I'm just saying different markets demand different thing, and the US market in particular is heavy on iMessages.

Everyone I know with family overseas uses WhatsApp, but almost everyone I know in the US uses some combination of iMessage or Facebook Messenger.

I've never used WhatsApp or WeChat. Ever! I use iMessage a lot and Facebook Messenger some.

i could`nt agree more. I was in US for some time and got aware that the usage of imessages was heavy as compared to 3rd party apps. so ios 10 basically cater that part of the world which mostly rely on imessages

I took the plunge and installed it yesterday. Other than the initial setup screen after the upgrade crashing multiple times, I am genuinely surprised at how polished it is.

I am disappointed that a lot of the stock wallpapers were removed, but at least that obnoxious lock screen zooming bug is gone so I can feel better about custom wallpapers.

yups that is great. I really liked that now we can remove the unwanted stock apps which used to occupy the space.

You should have deleted or modified your 1st post (before people commented), if you don't want comments based on what you do post. Many of us read in the order posted, not backwards. You can't generalize the world based on India's usage. Would be like me assuming more people take off July 4th than those that don't. Yeah I get what you mean. I can get used to them, it just seems like its something that's being forced. In the first two betas those effects worked fine with reduce motion being on, so it just seems silly that they are making us keep that animation on in order to get those effects.

Are you now saying "reduce motion on" to get the effects? You quoted a reply that said "reduce motion off" to get the effects. I had to turn my off.. the post above seems confusing.

Yeah sorry, it is confusing. Reduce motion has to be turned off, meaning the zoom in and out of the screen needs to be occurring to get the imessage effects.

What I was saying above was the in previous betas that you could keep reduce motion "on" and the effects still worked, meaning that you could have the zooming in and out disabled and the effects still worked.

you have to keep the reduced motion off to make the effects work.

You can go through in detail to the post on imore where they have explained to each and every effect.

Yes, I know that... I was posting that quote was contradictory about ON and then OFF. Was helping to clarify the post, to help avoid confusion. I think you missed the point, but no worries. If you see the quote you replied to, I already set reduce motion to OFF.

as a matter of fact it did never happen to me. I am running io 10 from the 1st beta and now have public GM but the battery problem you are referring to never occurred. mine worked perfectly at even 1% also.

If you are still facing a problem do a reset and then try. As the betas sometime tends to develop a glitch.

Someone told me to do reset. I did it, hard reset without restore backup, configure has new, and still drains fast...

ohh.. There might be some possible glitch then. Because when we update our s/w through OTA then due to the packets being transferred to our phones , some get lost or damaged which causes this issue. You could do one thing sir, on 13th when the iOS 10 is releasing just do an update using iTunes and then see.

If it drains that fast, you likely have an app running wild. Probably using a lot of push notifications or location services. Try going through multitasking and close out any suspect apps. Then do a hard reset. Also, remember the big 3 battery users are 1. Screen brightness 2. Push notifications 3. Location services. Go through Settings and see what can be turned off. Turn your brightness down as much as possible.
If you have Facebook, go to the Facebook Settings and turn off auto video.

If you have Facebook, go to the Facebook Settings and turn off auto video.

that`s ok what you advised but I use all those things and still my battery performance is very good. on my 6s.

That's great! Mine does ok too. Some users have issues though. They may have an app we don't have that is hogging the battery. I've had those before.

I agree with your disagreement. Because I am still using an iPhone 4s as well the original iPhone. Both phones are working fine for me. So even the iPhone 5 is brand new to me. The 6 and 6 plus are verrrrrrrrry much ahead of my devices.

yes you may be absolutely right. Some people also keep the brightness to full or do not turn on the auto brightness feature.

It's a 5s purchased in august, new... used with iOS 9... iOS 10 drains a lot. I think I'll install iOS 9 today, before apple releases 10 and I can't go back... :/

EDIT: I just returned to iOS9.3.5 now... iOS10 was eating my battery. E-mail push was disabled, and I was just using same apps when I was with iOS9... I prefer iOS10, hope this gets fixed soon.

Bluetooth seems like its still spotty. One of the reasons I downgraded to 9 last time was because the Bluetooth in iOS10 for some reason really struggled connecting to my car. It connects now, but I'm having to turn the audio on and off on the car several times to get it to connect. A problem I never had one time on iOS9.

So I'm assuming that since I'm on the iOS 10 Public Beta GM release, I won't get a notification tomorrow about the official release? Since they are technically the same release?

If that is the case, I should be able to simply remove the beta profile (if I have no desire to continue receiving and testing future beta releases) and be on my merry way? Or is there something else I will need to do to ensure I'm back to the normal way of updates?
