Has anyone encountered this? Today, I opened music to find that all of music had disappeared. It had been working fine a few hours before and nothing else had happened with the phone. No restart, no updates, in fact, the phone was in airplane mode.

I've also been experiencing lots of app crashes since updating to 9.3.3.

Anyone experienced either of these?

No...NEVER! Having said that, if a lot of your app are crashing, AND those apps have been updated to work with iOS 9.3.3, then I recommend you restore your device and set it up as new. Afterwards, reinstall your apps. It may be an inconvenience, but it'll probably fix the problems you're experiencing.

YES. This happened to me on iOS 9.3.2. I lost over 1,400 songs (iTunes and personal installed music). I got out of my car, went into the bank and saw a very long line so I thought I would listen to some music while I wait and "poof" it was all gone. Apple Support never could find a reason why this happened.
I'm glad I had my personal music backed up on my computer.
