Does iOS 10 require touch ID set up or can it be unlocked without it?

I'm running iOS 10 on my iPad Air (first gen), so I don't have Touch ID. Instead of swiping to unlock, you simply click the home button and are sent to input your passcode.

No iOS 10 does not require touch id you can use a pass code

Good point. There are multiple non-TouchID devices that will be supported by iOS 10.
