9.2.1 Update Question

I have an iPhone 6s Plus and iPad Air 2, both devices say they are on 9.2.1 and when I plug them into iTunes, it shows 9.2.1, but a window pops up saying there is an update for 9.2.1.

I'm completely confused. I downloaded 9.2.1 on both devices in February so why is iTunes telling me each one has a new update?

It also shows the devices are up to date when you click on software update on the device.

I don't know, and it's more than likely a glitch. If you'd like, you can reinstall the update via iTunes to see if the prompts cease.

There was a supplemental update to 9.2.1 to fix the Error 53 that some were experiencing on Touch ID devices that were repaired incorrectly. It's safe to download.

I don't know why they didn't change the version number but they didn't. And it's only available via iTunes not OTA.
