ios9 double click home

used to be able to swipe running apps to close now I don't seem to have that option. all that happens is they move sideways.
am I doing it wrong?

Swipe up. It's the same thing.

Ya works fine for me. Much better space for this action also. and it's fast.

OP, I can see why your apps move sideways when you try to swipe up. I just noticed how accustomed I am to my thumb movement of swiping upwards actually going upwards-sliding to the right. Just gotta swipe up completely now.

Try double tapping home on the lockscreen!!!
