Not that I recall. That wouldn't have been anything exciting for them to talk about at WWDC.

I think it will be talked about when next generation iDevices are launched. May be the feature has something exclusive to offer with the new hardware.

I agree unless there is any specific change with the hardware to beautify and magnify this iOS 9 feature.

It's there, they just didn't talk about it because it's not a developer feature.
You can see it in action in El Capitan, which shares it's kernel with iOS 9.
